Match analysis
Friday: Europe's depth shows
Ruud and Nakashima traded wins in the opening singles, both in the match tie-break. Then Jódar, making his Laver Cup debut, beat Bublik in straight sets, and Alcaraz and Mensik won the doubles to give Europe a 3-1 lead.
Saturday: World fight back, Europe answer
Tien beat Cobolli in a match tie-break and De Minaur edged Zverev after Zverev had served for the second set. De Minaur, bleeding from his leg after a diving volley, saved a match point along the way to put Team World 5-3 ahead. Alcaraz then saved two match points against Fritz to level at 5-5, and Ruud and Zverev won the night's doubles in two sets to take a 7-5 lead into Sunday.
Analysis: With Sunday worth three points a match, Europe needed only two wins from two matches. The Saturday night doubles was the swing, since a loss would have left Europe two points behind with Team World's strongest singles players still to play.
Sunday: Europe finish the job
Cobolli and Mensik beat De Minaur and Fritz 7-5, 6-3 in the opening doubles to make it 10-5. Zverev then beat Tien 7-6(3), 6-3 to clinch the trophy, after Tien saved three break points at 5-5 in the first set. It was Zverev's first Laver Cup singles win since 2024.
