Manchester City and Arsenal remain perfect
After three matches, Manchester City and Arsenal were the only sides to maintain 100% records. Both had collected nine points and carried identical +5 goal differences into the international break.
City's 1–0 victory over Coventry was considerably tighter than their possession dominance suggested, while Arsenal's 2–1 win over Chelsea represented their biggest examination of the season to that point. Both victories kept the early title race level.
Liverpool finally get their first win
Liverpool entered Matchday 3 still searching for their first league victory under Andoni Iraola. Alexander Isak changed that almost immediately at Portman Road, scoring twice in the first nine minutes.
The 2–0 result moved Liverpool to five points from their opening three matches. Isak's brace also provided the clearest attacking statement of the weekend for the Reds.
Comebacks define the weekend
Matchday 3 repeatedly demonstrated why Premier League matches cannot be considered finished until the final whistle.
- Newcastle recovered from 2–0 down to draw 2–2 with Bournemouth.
- Crystal Palace twice came from behind to beat Fulham 3–2.
- Everton scored in the 83rd and 90+6th minutes to draw 2–2 with Manchester United.
- Arsenal overturned Morgan Rogers' early goal to beat Chelsea 2–1.

Early Premier League picture
Matchday 3 left Manchester City and Arsenal tied on nine points, with Hull City's unbeaten start placing the newly promoted side third on seven points. Chelsea remained fourth on six points, while Brentford, Liverpool, Newcastle, Everton and Leeds all occupied the five-point group.
At the other end, Fulham remained without a point after three defeats, while Coventry were still searching for their first Premier League point following their narrow defeat at the Etihad. Aston Villa's goalless draw at Hull also meant they had yet to score in the opening three matches.
The early title-race takeaway
Three games are far too early for definitive conclusions, but the opening weeks have already produced a clear pattern: City and Arsenal have started fastest, Hull have emerged as the surprise package, while several established clubs are already chasing lost points.
