UEFA Super Cup Final
12 August 2026 • Red Bull Arena, Salzburg, Austria
Paris Saint-Germain retained the UEFA Super Cup with a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Aston Villa at the Red Bull Arena in Salzburg. The result gave PSG back-to-back Super Cup titles after their success against Tottenham in 2025.
PSG took control early and opened the scoring in the 20th minute. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia cut in from the left before unleashing a powerful rising shot that flew inside the near post. The goal made Kvaratskhelia the first Georgian player to score in a UEFA Super Cup.
Aston Villa responded impressively before half-time. Seventeen-year-old striker Brian Madjo, making his competitive debut for the club, equalised in the 45th minute with a volley from John McGinn's cross. Madjo's goal made him the youngest-ever scorer in UEFA Super Cup history.
PSG restored their advantage in the 61st minute through Désiré Doué. The French forward ran onto a pass from Ousmane Dembélé and curled a left-footed shot into the far corner. The goal was initially ruled out for offside, but VAR showed that Aston Villa defender Matty Cash had kept Doué onside, and the goal was subsequently awarded.
Villa continued to threaten and finished the game with more attempts than PSG, but the French champions' defence held firm to secure the trophy.

The statistics show an interesting contrast: Aston Villa attempted more shots overall, but PSG had the greater share of possession and put more efforts on target. That combination of control and finishing efficiency proved decisive in Salzburg.
PSG became the first team since Real Madrid in 2016 and 2017 to win consecutive UEFA Super Cups. The victory adds another major trophy to Luis Enrique's highly successful spell in charge of the French champions.
For Aston Villa, the defeat came despite an encouraging performance from a youthful side. The biggest positive was the emergence of Brian Madjo, whose historic debut goal and physical presence gave PSG's defence problems throughout the contest.
PSG's victory also continued their remarkable run of success in European competition, while Aston Villa can take confidence from their ability to compete with the reigning Champions League holders.
