Víctor Muñoz's first goal for the club rescued a point for Liverpool as Nottingham Forest twice led at Anfield in an entertaining Merseyside draw.
Liverpool were made to work for a share of the spoils on Merseyside as Nottingham Forest twice took the lead at Anfield before Víctor Muñoz's late strike secured a 2-2 draw in Matchweek 2 of the 2026/27 Premier League season. Andoni Iraola's side dominated possession and territory throughout but were repeatedly undone in behind, while Forest — playing their first match under new boss Oliver Glasner following back-to-back defeats to Leeds — showed the kind of clinical edge on the counter that has made them a difficult away side in recent seasons.
Dan Ndoye put the visitors ahead midway through the first half, Alexander Isak marked his first Anfield goal of the season with a close-range finish after the break, only for Morgan Gibbs-White to restore Forest's lead from the penalty spot. Muñoz, making his home debut, then curled home a stoppage-approaching equaliser to snatch a point for the hosts, who remain without a win since Iraola's arrival at the club.
Forest struck first when Dan Ndoye finished clinically at the Kop end in the 24th minute, capping a swift counter-attack and surviving a tense VAR review for the opening goal. Liverpool, who had overwhelmed the visitors territorially without cutting through them, went into half-time behind despite dominating the ball — Alisson was forced into a smart save to deny Igor Jesus a second Forest goal right on the stroke of the break.
At the interval, Liverpool led the possession count by roughly two-to-one but trailed on expected goals, with Forest's three big chances created in the opening 45 minutes reflecting a far more clinical approach to the game.
Liverpool emerged with more purpose after the restart and drew level in the 60th minute when Cody Gakpo picked out Alexander Isak with a low cross, and the summer signing tapped home his first Anfield goal for the club. The lead swung straight back to Forest just ten minutes later, however, when Neco Williams was adjudged to have been fouled by Alisson inside the box, and Morgan Gibbs-White stepped up to convert the resulting penalty.
With Forest looking to hold on for a first win of their season, Liverpool continued to push and were rewarded in the 81st minute when Víctor Muñoz, set up by Florian Wirtz, curled home an equaliser on his full home debut to make it 2-2. Neither side could find a winner in the closing stages, and the points were shared at Anfield.

The draw leaves Liverpool still searching for their first win of the new campaign after also drawing 2-2 at Newcastle in their opener, with Iraola's side now unbeaten but winless through two matches. Forest, by contrast, collected their first points of the season and remain unbeaten in their last three visits to Anfield, a promising sign for Glasner after his side's rocky start to life under the new manager.
