Spain were crowned FIFA World Cup champions for the second time after defeating defending champions Argentina 1–0 after extra time in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final at New York New Jersey Stadium on 19 July 2026.
After dominating possession and creating the better chances throughout the match, Spain finally found the breakthrough in extra time when substitute Ferran Torres scored the championship-winning goal.
Spain controlled much of the match, keeping Argentina under pressure while creating the majority of the scoring opportunities. Goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez produced several outstanding saves to keep Argentina level during normal time.
Argentina struggled to threaten Spain's goal and failed to register a shot during regulation. Their hopes suffered another setback when Enzo Fernández received a second yellow card in stoppage time.
The decisive moment arrived in the 106th minute when Nico Williams headed Pedro Porro's cross into the path of Ferran Torres, who volleyed home to secure Spain's second FIFA World Cup title.
Ferran Torres was named Player of the Match for his match-winning performance.
