2026 Solheim Cup Teams Taking Shape as Europe Finalizes Lineup and U.S. Nears Selection

Europe Completes Its 12-Player Team

European captain Anna Nordqvist finalized her roster after automatic qualification concluded at the AIG Women's Open. Eight players earned their places through the Ladies European Tour Solheim Cup standings and the Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings, while four captain's picks completed the squad.

The European side blends experience with emerging talent. Veterans such as Charley Hull, Carlota Ciganda and Leona Maguire bring extensive Solheim Cup experience, while four rookies—Lottie Woad, Julia López Ramírez, Nastasia Nadaud and Mimi Rhodes—will make their debuts.

Among the newcomers, Woad has attracted particular attention following an exceptional breakthrough season that included victories on both the Ladies European Tour and LPGA Tour.

United States Team Nearing Completion

Team USA captain Angela Stanford has already secured several automatic qualifiers through the LPGA Solheim Cup points list and the Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings. World No. 1 Nelly Korda qualified months ago and is expected to lead the American squad once again.

The remaining automatic qualifying positions will be determined following the CPKC Women's Open later in August, after which Stanford will announce her three captain's selections.

The United States is expected to feature a strong mix of established stars and rising talent as it attempts to successfully defend the Solheim Cup for the first time since 2017.

Major Championship Performances Shape Selection

The 2026 major championship season played a decisive role in team qualification. Nelly Korda strengthened her position with victories at the Chevron Championship and U.S. Women's Open, while Europe's lineup benefited from standout campaigns by players including Maja Stark, Lottie Woad, Esther Henseleit and Céline Boutier.

Several captain's selections also rewarded players who displayed consistent form despite narrowly missing automatic qualification.

Bernardus Golf Set to Make History

The 2026 edition will mark the first time the Netherlands has hosted the Solheim Cup. Bernardus Golf, located in Cromvoirt, has previously staged multiple editions of the Dutch Open and is widely regarded as one of continental Europe's premier championship venues.

The event will feature the traditional three-day match-play format, including foursomes, fourballs and singles matches, with 28 total points available. Team Europe will need 14½ points to reclaim the trophy, while Team USA requires 14 points to retain it as the defending champion.

With Europe's roster finalized and the United States only weeks away from naming its complete team, anticipation continues to build for one of women's golf's most prestigious team competitions.
