What Matchday 4 means for LaLiga

Barcelona emerged as the clear early benchmark. Their 5-0 victory over Valencia took them to 12 points from four matches and continued a remarkable scoring run. Raphinha, Lamine Yamal, Fermín López and Pedri have given Hansi Flick's side an attacking platform capable of overwhelming opponents.

Behind Barcelona, Alavés made perhaps the biggest jump in perception. Their 5-2 win over Osasuna took them to 10 points, with Lucas Boyé's hat-trick providing the headline performance of the round.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, discovered that dominance in possession and shot volume does not necessarily translate into points. Los Blancos had 20 attempts against Betis but left La Cartuja empty-handed after Parrott's goal and Álvaro Valles' late penalty save.

Atlético Madrid also have work to do after their 3-0 defeat at Athletic Club. The two goals conceded immediately after half-time changed the contest in a matter of minutes, while Oihan Sancet's late goal completed a convincing San Mamés victory.

Further down the table, Deportivo's unbeaten start is another notable story. The newly promoted club showed considerable resilience to defeat Villarreal 3-2, with Aubameyang already emerging as one of the most influential attacking players of the opening weeks.
